Overseas Shipping Notice

Regarding International Shipping
via UPS, FedEx, and the US Postal Service
We are more than happy to do business with overseas customers. However, shipping costs from the US to overseas destinations have reached ridiculous price levels. The shipping agents are out of control. We are still willing to ship items overseas via the US Post Office, UPS, or Federal Express, but the Guitar Den can no longer "make up" the difference for under-estimated shipping charges. Due to rapidly rising fuel costs, expect another round of price hikes for all carriers. But read on, there is good news ahead.

The Post Office is the cheapest by far, and will accept money for insurance, but I have never had them actually pay a claim for damage or loss. They refuse to "cover" an instrument in most foreign countries.

Advance online or phone calls for shipping estimates yield wildly under-estimated prices. Actual shipping costs always vary from 20% - 50% more.

We're sorry, but the Guitar Den can no longer go to the effort to pack up your merchandise and take it to several shipping agents to give you estimates, only to have the deal NOT go down because of high shipping costs. It triples our work and causes lengthy time delays for others. (Read on - I promise there is good news below.)

As a result, guitars shipped overseas via UPS or FedEx will now include a MINIMUM shipping cost of $350. Amplifiers shipped overseas via UPS or FedEx will now include a MINIMUM shipping cost of $400. PER PIECE. We regret that this decision will cost us some sales, but it is a decision that had to be made. If you would like to arrange your own shipping and have your merchandise PICKED UP AT THE GUITAR DEN, you are more than welcome to do that. We are also happy to accept your purchase from an overseas address with shipping to a US address.

However, there is good news! We are currently using BAX Global for shipping guitars overseas. Their charges are reasonable, $175-$250. The service is good and the time is good. Their only issue is insurance. BAX Global will only insure stringed instruments for a maximum of $500. If you can live with that, the shipping can save substantial money. We haven't had a damaged instrument so far. So there is an alternative.

PLEASE don't even ask us to make a false receipt for customs so you can pay less duty/taxes and entry fees into your country. It's illegal and we will not do it.

  Thank you for understanding.
